The gift of Gold is the story I have chosen for my "storytelling" on Saturday at Maponya.
"Here are all the ingredients of a classic fairy tale: a curse, a lucky gold pebble, an inquisitive little girl and, of course, a happy ending. The South African characters who help the girl along the way include traditional tribal people praying for rain, a friendly chameleon, and a misunderstood tokoloshe—a small ugly gremlin from African folklore."
The reason I chose this book is, because i believe that this is a fun filled book that is culturally appropriate for the audience on Saturday.

Danie,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great book and yes you are right the audience will love it. Taking into consideration that children love magic. Very funny though is that once they grow up they will think it did not exist, magic that is. The cover looks intresting, I think you should spend plenty of time discussing it let them guess what the storyn is about beacuse by looking at the cover one just doesnt think magic and that will keep them intrigued.
And thats the aim right?
