In this chapter we see the friendship between Harry and Hagrid become stronger.
Hagrid now Plays the role of Harry's teacher as well as his parent. In the chapter Harry does not know much about magic and what he needs he didn't even now that he had money in the previous chapters we have seen that Harry's been treated as an outcast without friends and rags for clothes.
This is now a new adventure for him he has enough money to buy anything he needs.
Professor Quirrell |
This chapter is a learning on for Harry and he is fascinated by what he is learning about magic he even meets some of the other students.
The theme in this chapter again is Friendship and aslo love. But in addition fame we start seeing how others respond to Harry even though he hasn't been in the magic world for years. Exploration and Discovery are also themes this is a child that cannot believe what he is seeing he is also in a new world were he has money he is famous and still has a lot to learn this is the complete opposite from what he came from.
When Harry gets his wand he then learns that he has the wand that has exactly the same feather as the one you know who had. "a Phoenix feather "
This brings up fear of what could happen.
Chapter 6
The Journey From Platform Nine and Three - Quarters
Uncertainty is surely the first thing we see because Harry needs to go to Platform nine an three quarters this clearly does not exist in the muggle world.
Harry is left to fend for himself he trying to find the platform.
Luckily Harry spots the red headed family and he sees them passing through the wall at platform 9 and 10. He then asks the mom what he must do and of he goes.
In the train Harry gets help from the twins Fred and George here they discover that he is the Real Harry potter by spotting his scar.
We get to know the Weasley family a little in this chapter and also Harry becoming friends with Ron and their first meeting with Hermionie.
Again we see friendship developing.
Ron is a Strange character he seems to be a inquisitive red headed. He was quickly telling Harry all about his family and the wizarding world.
We also meet Hermionie and quickly see that this character is a know it all she seems very smart and she seems to know alot about spells already.
In addition Malfoy, Crabb and Goyle already stir up some trouble and make it clear that they are mean boys. They are the bullies clearly.
Next they arrived at Hogwarts, in the boats they got and off to the school they went.

what did you learn about the characters presenting themselves?
Monique
Hi ladies
ReplyDeleteThe platform nine and three quarters is hilarious. The whole scene is just a comedy feature for me .I think you are right Monique Professor Quirall starts to look suspicious there at the bar in the alley. But to someone who has not read the book or is reading for the first time he is the last person one would suspect of any foul play. And hosting Voldermont is hardly fowl play it is downright wrong.
But there are those wizards that believe in the dark arts and Quiral played his part so well he seemed to belong to the good side instead. And that is why he fooled the kids into thinking Snape was the one who was planning to steal the stone.
Hermione suits her character, everyone knows what a goody two shoes looks like and this is our girl. Perfection in every sense of the word. Knows all the answers and when everyone is clueless Miss Granger knows exactly where to go.
I think Hagrid and Ron are the other characters we see a lot of, Hagrid is this huge gentle man, a total contrast right there. His looks make him look dangerous somehow, but he is so kind and almost looks like a teddy bear to me.
I have a little challenge for you ladies I think we should write a book review about the two books within the next two days, just to wrap it up in style, all in favour of this wonderful idea please follow suit.
Kamo
Hi ladies, you touched on important things there Monique, and I agree with you Kamo, that part of the platform is very hilarious, imagine going through a wall to catch a train, its really a lot of fiction there. ohh,and as for Prof.Quirrell he really got us fooled pretending to be stuttering and stupid but all alone he was the evil one.
ReplyDeleteAnd to add on the themes that you already noted Monique, evil v/s good, from the way the Dursleys treated poor harry, they were evil and Harry was the good guy. Even love and hate falls on that category of the Dursleys.

ReplyDeleteIndeed Monique, platform nine and three quarters "does not exist in muggle world" what a shock to see humans traveling through walls.
ReplyDeleteHarry getting help by the red headed family at time when he was desprate show to us that, at a point in life, we all will need somebody to care and as such we should always be ready to help others.Another themes for this chapter could be the "Journey to Hogwarts" This theme because it look like everything seems to happen too fast, mysterious and uncomprehendable for Harry. From poor life to suddenly fat bank accuont, fame and admiration.
The charactors in this chapters really knows how to play their cards. most expecially deceitful professor Quirrell. And off course the little genues witch who already seems to know answers to every questions.
